Ohio's boating is anchored by Lake Erie — one of the best walleye fisheries in the world. But the state also has excellent inland lakes, reservoirs, and the Ohio River. Here are the best launches across the Buckeye State.
Lake Erie — North Coast
Lake Erie is the main event. Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront offers multiple launch lanes with direct lake access. Huron Boat Basin and Lorain Harbor are excellent western basin launches for walleye runs. The western basin (Port Clinton, Sandusky, Catawba Island) is the walleye capital — Catawba Island State Park has the most popular ramp and fills before dawn during peak season.

Central Ohio — Columbus Metro
Alum Creek Lake is the Columbus boating hub — 3,387 acres with a modern multi-lane ramp at the state park. Hoover Reservoir north of the city offers excellent sailing and fishing. Buckeye Lake east of Columbus is a historic boating destination with multiple public launches.
